England’s First Alphabet.
The following is the Anglo-Saxon rune alphabet which I call England’s first alphabet.
Developed over several hundred years between 450AD and 1066AD, it was devised by R. I. Page in his book ‘An introduction to English Runes’, first published in 1973, reprinted in 1999. They have been adjusted by me to be applicable to the modern Queens English. I have also added a set of numeric runes as well.
The Alphabet.
The alphabet is not case sensitive.

The letters f and v use the same rune as does the letters s and z. The only addition to the alphabet is the rune for the letter q. In the original Anglo-Saxon alphabet there was no runic characters for v, z or q.
The Numbers.
These are a set of number runes that I created to be compatible with modern numbers. The Anglo-Saxons used a version of the Roman numbers system using alphabetical characters.

Punctuation is rather simplified one spot between letters, two spots between sentences, or when a colon and semi-colon are used. Try to decipher the words below.
