Being Positive About England

About Me

Hi,

My name is Mark Higginson.

I am a single parent with one young adult son, William and one daughter, Sophie, nearly 14yrs old.

I am currently 55yrs old and temporarily unemployed. I have voluntered for both WRVS in a teaching assistance role, and Caudwell Childrens charity in an administration role.

My hobbies are: Astronomy, art, music, reading, photography, computing.

I am an Englishman living in England, a rather large part of the UK. The banner you see above is one created by me to represent the House of Mark Higginson, following late Anglo-Saxon traditions of banner design and colours. The diamond with a cross represents the last emblem of the Kingdom of Mercia. The Stafford knot is an ancient knot pattern that comes from ancient times, possibly pre-dating the Anglo-Saxon period, possibly? It represents my origin is the Shire of Stafford. The Pedunculate oak leaf represents England as a whole, and could also represent St. Edmund, the first Patron Saint of England. Lastly, my initials using the Anglo-Saxon Project font found elsewhere on the internet. Incidentaly, this font is used by the Stoke-on-Trent City Art Gallery and Museum in connection with it's promotion of it's portion of the Anglo-Saxon Hoard. The large (Jerusalem) cross, represents Englands primary religion of Christianity.
